The U.S. Department of Energy recommends using engineered wood flooring instead of solid wood to
reduce the possibility of the wood shrinking and cracking from the drying effects of the heat.
The National Wood Flooring Association recommends for radiant heating:
• Engineered wood flooring is more dimensionally stable than solid wood flooring.
• Certain species are known for their inherent dimensional stability such as North American oak,
American cherry, American walnut and others. Denser species such as maple and Brazilian
cherry are less stable.
• Quarter-sawn and rift-sawn wood flooring is more dimensionally stable in width than plain sawn wood flooring.
• Narrow boards are more dimensionally stable than wide boards.
A quality of wood without knots and other defects which can cause problems
Our flooring crafted from a quality of wood previously unavailable. We are the only company in the world to exclusively use prime grade logs. These perfect logs are rare, prized for their consistent color, tight grain patterns, uniformity of ring spacing and lack of blemishes.
The greatest stability for any species
Radial Quarter Sawing consider the most labor intensive sawing method but it produces a near perfect vertical grain angle of 80° to 90° yielding the greatest stability for any species of wood.
Proprietary low stress drying methods
We mill our wood to its approximate final thickness prior to drying. Although labor intensive, it results in less induced stresses. Each wear is meticulously stacked by hand and separated with our specially de-signed spacers. They are gently air dried to ensure a gradual change in moisture content.
The final step of the drying process is accomplished in our proprietary low stress kilns which slowly dries flooring and provides a more uniform moisture.
12 ply construction for maximum stability.
Our 12 ply construction utilizes the premier Baltic Birch plywood from Russia that is renowned for its strength and stability. The Russian Baltic Birch plywood has proven itself through billions of square feet of flooring all over the world to be an established benchmark for durability and stability
