There is a big difference between standard quarter-sawn flooring and the product we sell. You can legally call a floorboard “quarter-sawn” if its grain is between 60-90 degrees. This is best flooring available from other hardwood flooring companies. Our unique sawing process produces floorboards that are of a much higher quality with a much tighter grain – between 80-90 degrees. Having the grain running perpendicular to the surface of the flooring, while far more time intensive to produce, cuts across the wood's ray cells yielding "ray-flecked" grain with a spectacularly iridescent and shimmering "flake figure".

What makes this product unique is that it is sawn from veneer grade, small diameter logs. Our product has a “centered cathedral” grain pattern, so that when you line up several boards, there is a consistancy to our “planks”.

 Character GradeWHITE OAK Almost all logs recovered from the river are clear, virgin growth, straight grained logs, which yield clear grade lumber and flooring. Some logs that are found, however, are from treetops and display character marks of knots, limbs & forks along with mineral coloration. |

 Rare Finds WHITE OAK In our reclamation process, we encounter some particularly interesting logs, and acknowledge their special characteristics by giving them an identifying name and detailed description, such as “Cronus”, showcased in the above images. |
